We had a wonderful stay at this historic and romantic location. The views from the roof were breathtaking, especially with the sunset and the sight of geese flying over. The Gatehouse is full of character and truly unique. It offered privacy while still being conveniently located near pubs, restaurants, and attractions. The check-in process was easy using the key safe. The hotel was clean and well-equipped, with modern amenities like TV and wifi. The welcome basket and ample supply of wood for the stove were nice touches. It served as a great base to explore the beautiful Wye Valley, the Severn Estuary, and the South Wales coast. The staff was helpful and provided useful advice.
There was nothing we didn't like.

The main living area was absolutely stunning and the views from the roof were delightful. It was a treat to be able to use the fire and experience the cozy and comfortable atmosphere. Another advantage was the helpfulness of the hosts, who provided clear instructions for finding the property and were always available for advice. the property's charm and quirkiness, set within beautiful grounds, added to the overall appeal.
The bathroom was a letdown, with a high step to the toilet and a lackluster overall appearance. It didn't match the standard of the rest of the property.

We had such a relaxing and unique stay at the gatehouse. The main living area was amazing with a cosy fire and stunning views. The owners had thought of everything and the welcome pack was a lovely touch. The location was perfect, close to Bristol yet secluded enough to feel like a world away. The staff treated us wonderfully and the comfy bed ensured a great night's sleep.
Hotel breakfast could be improved with more variety.

We had a blast at this unique, historic location. the view from the roof was absolutely worth the climb, especially when we saw a flock of geese flying over as the sun set. the Gatehouse was full of character and had a one-of-a-kind atmosphere. Despite feeling private and secluded, it was still conveniently located near pubs, restaurants, and activities. the raised bed above the living room added to the fun and charm, though it might be a bit challenging for those less agile. And the key safe made check-in a breeze. a fantastic stay for party people.
We felt welcomed into the family - no complaints at all.

We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful gatehouse! The location is perfect - close enough to Bristol for convenience, but tucked away in a peaceful and secluded setting. The main living area was our favorite part, with its cozy and comfortable atmosphere. And the views from the roof were simply stunning! We spent evenings by the log burner, enjoying the breathtaking scenery. The added touch of a welcome hamper and attention to detail made us feel right at home.
While our overall experience was amazing, there were a couple of minor drawbacks. the bathroom was a bit tricky to navigate with the step for the toilet, and it didn't quite match the standard of the rest of the property.

Stayed in a charming, historic property with all the comforts of home. Appreciated the thoughtful welcome hamper and cozy log burner. Location felt secluded but safe, perfect for a relaxing getaway.
The stone stairs might be difficult for those with mobility issues, but added to the character of the place. Would have loved if there was a sofa bed so we could bring the kids to experience the beauty of this place.
